Vision

Hey, I’m Tia (she/her)! I’ll be bringing my whole self to our shared space so you feel safe to bring yours. We will collaborate and explore what is important to you in the moment. Through the therapeutic relationship, you’ll be able to discuss concerns with an objective, non-judgmental person who can support you with your wellness in mind. I use a combination of my education, research, and lived experience to guide my counselling practice in the best way to serve you.

Our values provide the road map to making the decisions that make us feel best in our journey.

Pillars of Practice

How Do I Work With Clients?

Relationally - We are both people first. Your trust in our work together is something I hope to earn. I show up wholeheartedly, authentically, and as my full self so you can do the same. I welcome client curiousities, use therapeutically relevant self-disclosure, and sometimes our time together is fun (it doesn’t have to be all tough stuff all the time).

Social Justice / Critical Theory - Breaking down the contexts in which we live and how they impact the ease or difficulty in how we show up is critical. Critical theory has informed my research, my advocacy, and the accessibility of relevant information that folks can use to work with their challenges with a fresh perspective. Mental health care is not a privilege, it’s a human right.

Somatic Integration - You may be someone who is extremely self-aware, well researched, or able to intellectualize your struggles. Although this is a key step in the therapeutic process it isn’t everything. Holding a safe space for you to drop down into the rest of your body (giving your brain a bit of a break) through Somatic Experiencing techniques allows us to move what’s stuck by gently bringing in the wisdom your entire body has had this whole time.
